Join fellow educators to learn about local resources that apply MSDE teaching standards for teaching the history of Black, Indigenous and other People of Color across Southern Maryland.

The Equity in History Institute will be offered once at 2 other locations. Register for the one that works best for you.

Choose a date and location that works for you. Institute is free with lunch included, but you must register in advance.

Each institute will feature:

  • Hands on experience with a new website providing in-depth searchable access to the history of Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color across Southern Maryland.  Geared to MSDE teaching standards. 
  • Learning about local Southern Maryland history and sign posts from local historian and archaeologist Dr. Julie King.
  • An Expo of local institutions providing a wealth of information on the history and opportunities for field trips and classroom presentations.
  • MSDE CPD credit!

This institute will include time to explore the Indigenous culture and resources at Piscataway Park and the Accokeek Foundation.

The institutes are brought to you by the Southern Maryland Equity in History Coalition which includes the active participation and support of the Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary?s Public School Systems.
