Calvert Library Twin Beaches Branch, invites you to enjoy "Seascapes and Skylines--Views From North Beach" by Gary Jameson through October 31.
Seascapes and Skylines-Views From North Beach showcases Gary's paintings and works on paper.
Gary Jameson is an artist and educator and has lived in North Beach for 45 years. His paintings, sculpture, and photography have been exhibited nationally. Jameson was an Artist-in-Residence at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis from 2009 to 2012, and currently teaches studio art and art history at the College of Southern Maryland.
Statement from the artist: "For many years, my art has been based on interpretive incorporation of the human presence within the American landscape, acknowledging an artistic legacy that spans over two hundred years of American aesthetics. Current work involves paintings, sculpture, and works on paper, inspired by where I am and where I have been. My style has been described as both colorist and minimalist. Images in this exhibition are based on views of the horizon looking over the Chesapeake Bay from North Beach. I seek to abstractly interpret the color, shape, and light of the atmosphere and environment."
