An educational session discussing the basics of investments. It will be made available in person and on Zoom.
Curious about investing but not sure where to start? Women's Commissioner Brandy Curtis Richards will lead this educational session that will introduce the basics--like how money can grow over time through interest, the difference between saving and investing, and simple concepts like stocks, bonds, and risk. This is an informal, informational talk--not financial advice--perfect for beginners looking to build financial confidence
Calvert County Women's Commissioner Brandy Curtis Richards is an economist and community planner with a passion for making financial concepts accessible and empowering for everyone. With two master’s degrees in Economics & Finance and Community Planning, she brings over two decades of experience helping individuals and communities make informed, intentional decisions about money. Brandy is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and currently leads a community solar program, where she bridges technical and financial aspects to ensure clear communication and equitable access. A Coast Guard spouse and mother of four, Brandy understands the importance of financial literacy in navigating life’s transitions. She believes in living a frugal, values-based life and enjoys sharing practical strategies for building financial confidence. When she is not talking numbers, you can find her in her garden or volunteering as a Master Gardener for the county.
This event is part of our Financial Literacy series, sponsored in partnership with Calvert Library, C4, and the Calvert County Commission for Women.
