Birding basics for all ages! Local birding pro, Mikey Lutmerding, a wildlife biologist for the U.S. Geological Survey, will provide all the information you need to start finding and identifying birds right in your backyard.

Lately we’ve had a lot more time to slow down and look to nature for entertainment. Birds, in particular, are fun to observe... But how can you know what exactly you are seeing? Local birding pro, Mikey Lutmerding, a wildlife biologist for the U.S. Geological Survey’s North American Breeding Bird Survey will provide all the information you need to start finding and identifying birds right in your backyard. Mikey will cover the basics of bird identification along with suggestions for equipment and good local birding spots. Now’s a great time to think of questions to submit--- Do I need binoculars? Where should I look? How will I know what I’m looking at? Can I identify a bird based on its song? What if I want to take pictures? Are there any online resources I can access to learn more? Be sure to register!
