Books in Bloom Design Class (Christ Church)

Books in Bloom is a community event to make book inspired floral arrangements. Join Calvert Garden Club's design class to learn tips and tricks to floral design. This is a great opportunity for homeschoolers, clubs, scouts, or anyone who loves flowers an opportunity to make something to share with our community.

Email Andrea Kroll (Calvert Garden Club) at krofly@hotmail.com to register for the design class and/or sign up to display an arrangement at any Calvert Library location for Books in Bloom (March 13-16).

There are no wrong designs! All are welcome! This is a fun floral design themed on a book from the library.  We encourage you to check out the book to display with your floral arrangement. Please do not use very fragrant flowers in your display and it should not hang down over the display bookshelf or table. Have fun with your creativity but keep the floral aspect of the interpretation. 

Books in Bloom Installation:  

Floral displays are to be installed Wednesday, March 13 between 9am and 1pm at the branch you have been assigned. Designers should plan to design and crate their floral arrangements at home. Creating your floral arrangement on top of the display location is NOT permitted due to the presence of paper library materials.

Book: 

You are encouraged to check out a book at the library.  If you choose to use your own personal copy, Calvert Garden Club or Calvert Library will not be held responsible for any damage or loss.

Staging of the Design: 

Displays should include the following: (1) your floral design, (2) book, and (3) 5x7 design information stand (we will be providing information stands). Displays will be placed at the four Calvert Library locations as assigned.  Your display will be on a bookshelf or tabletop with a minimum of 24”x24” top area. Display top heights from the floor at typically between 2.5 – 4 feet. In addition, there are several smaller display locations. Please let us know if you are planning on a large or small design.  You will know the exact dimensions of your design space after locations have been assigned.

Your designs should NOT hang from the bookshelf or table as there are no surrounding walls to support your design.

We would love to have the community join us in the event.  

Arrangement delivery to chosen library:

• Drop off on Wednesday morning, March 13 between 9am-1pm
• Pick up on Saturday afternoon, March 16 between  3-5pm
