From Small Pieces, Big Stories Grow Learn how a small museum on the shores of the Patuxent River protects and preserves the stories of Marylanders from across the state, especially here in Calvert County.
Eric Frere
Assistant Director of Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum
Eric grew up in southern St. Mary's County but has lived in the Beaches for the last 18 years with his wife and two daughters. When not at work, you can usually find him wandering the boardwalk, reading by the water, or capturing the beauty of the area through photography.
Since high school, Eric has been passionate about helping people discover the stories rooted in their own backyard. Whether he was bringing 17th-century Maryland to life at Historic St. Mary’s City, helping visitors make connections with Congress at the US Capitol, or even teaching others how to build bonds between the visitor and the special places they visited, most of his work has been centered on building community through a shared understanding the past.
In his role at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum, Eric is dedicated to helping the staff create meaningful experiences where Marylanders can connect with their shared past through archaeology and the deep-rooted stories found in the landscapes of Calvert County that continue to shape us to this day.
