FreeState Justice, Maryland's LGBTQIA+ civil advocacy nonprofit organization, is offering a free confidential legal name change clinic to all Maryland residents. Minors under 18 are eligible, pending Parental consent. For more details please call the legal intake line at (443) 977-4243 or email intake@freestate-justice.org.

Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is encouraged!

Learn about the Maryland legal process for changing your name and gender marker with legal professionals from FreeState Justice. Minors as well as adults are welcome. If you are considering legally changing your name, even if you aren’t ready to do so in the near future, this name change clinic is a great resource to stop by, ask questions and learn about the process.

If possible, please register with FreeState Justice in advance of the event by submitting an intake service request form. Attendees should note in the intake form that they will be participating in "Calvert Library’s Name Change Clinic." In order to register, you will need to provide a Birth Certificate or a State-Issued ID and provide a Maryland address where you are comfortable receiving court-issued mail.
