Professionally, Brittany Colip is a statistical programmer with a focus on healthcare quality measures. She enjoys finding patterns and making sense of messy data, but she also needs an outlet from looking at the computer screen all day. In addition, the advancement of artificial intelligence (A.I.) and technology causes stress and anxiety for her, because she worries about the impacts it will have on our natural world.
Producing artwork is an outlet for her. Brittany’s background is primarily in acrylic painting, and the themes in her paintings are primarily focused on nature and wildlife. She enjoys painting scenes from photos she has taken of landscapes or animals she has seen while running or hiking. She also enjoys plein air painting (i.e., “open air”, or painting a landscape scene outside on-site), and finds that it is very relaxing to be outside and focused on capturing the beauty in the surrounding scenery. She believes in painting nature as-is, even if not perfect (such as that old crooked tree) -- because nature itself is beautiful.
Brittany was born in Tyler, Texas and now lives in Port Republic, Maryland. She developed an interest in painting and art thanks to her Aunt Nell, who introduced her and her other cousins to watercolor painting at a young age. Brittany also admires and draws inspiration from the great western landscape masters such as Albert Bierstadt and Thomas Moran, John J. Audubon (specifically, his Birds of America), television landscape painting superstar Bob Ross, and friends and neighbors that she enjoys painting and spending “crafternoons” with.
