What did Lower Marlboro Freedom Mean Along the River?
Wednesday, October 28
6:30pm - 7:30pm
Twin Beaches Branch
Meeting Room WestA Lower Marlboro Freedom Day event with the Calvert Nature Society: speaker Fred Tutman, a Patuxent Riverkeeper, will discuss the substantial War of 1812 history fought on the river.
There was a lot of unsung and untold American History on the Patuxent River. Patuxent Riverkeeper Fred Tutman will discuss the substantial War of 1812 history fought on the river. It was one of only three times our nation was invaded by a foreign power (the other 2 were Pearl Harbor and the 911 bombings). It is also documented that the Star Bangled Banner was written at Compton Basset on the Patuxent and then later unveiled during battle at Fort McHenry in Baltimore! Fred Tutman will discuss the state of the river then and now. Program in partnership with Calvert Nature Society.
