The goal of this workshop is to help aspiring entrepreneurs determine the steps necessary to put their business vision into action. We will cover the primary steps to forming a business within the State of Maryland, the things you need to consider to ensure regulatory and legal compliance, and the basic components of a business plan.
About the Presenter Vanessa Bright: Vanessa is the rare visionary leader who is also good at setting up systems, creating programs, and collaborating with others. She brings two decades of experience reengineering non-profit organizations that serve marginalized populations, including the last several years in which her focus has been on expanding and streamlining programs for returning citizens. In 2019, she started Maryland Reentry Resource Center with a desire to use her experience, resources, and expertise to empower formerly incarcerated individuals to become thriving and productive citizens in the communities to which they return. Navigating legal issues is of importance for entrepreneurs, gig workers, the employed and job seekers. Thus, Career Success Month will address career related legal issues through Expungement Clinics, Workplace discrimination: Know your Rights, Fair Housing, Documentation 101: How to Form Your Business, Trademark Law, to name a few of our planned offerings.
