Does your K-5th grade child love to read out loud, or needs help building reading confidence? Here's the chance for everyone to practice in a safe and welcoming space! 

How it works for young readers:

  • Register for the Reading Buddies - Young Readers event.
  • Bring your favorite books, or pick one of ours when you get here--we have plenty!
  • Stuffed animals are welcome!
  • Read and engage in fun activities with teen volunteers.
  • Have fun!

How it works for Teen Reading Buddies:

  • Register for the event on this page. 
  • Read and engage in fun activities with young readers to build their confidence. 
  • Earn one (1) service learning hour for school!

Reading Buddies is a space for K-5 graders to practice reading in a relaxed and welcoming group! Reading Buddies inspires a love of reading, offers great social activities for children and teens, and promotes positive interactions between children of all ages. Teens earn a service learning hour by participating in a meaningful experience by encouraging children and helping them with their reading skills.

Ready Resume Skills:

  • Assists elementary students with reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and fluency through one-on-one and small-group support.
  • Uses clear, age-appropriate language and attentive listening to encourage young readers and build confidence.
  • Serves as a positive role model by guiding younger students and promoting a supportive learning environment.
  • Adjusts instruction methods to meet diverse learning styles and abilities while maintaining a calm, encouraging approach.
