Eryka Kahunanui is a California-born Kanakaiwi (Native Hawaiian) artist and the creative force behind Sharp Tongue Studio. Her work confronts the layered realities of Hawaiian diaspora, sovereignty, and belonging, weaving personal history with broader cultural memory.
Guided by instinct, Eryka works primarily with paint markers, spray paint, and acrylics—materials that allow her to move quickly, decisively, and with emotional honesty. Her process is impulsive in the best way: intuition leads, and the canvas follows.
Each piece carries her signature blend of sharp wit, restraint, curiosity, and bite. The result is a body of work that is as bold as it is vulnerable, speaking to the tension, humor, and humanity of navigating identity across distance.
